He said it perfectly.

May 20, 2007

I just watched Dane Cooks Tourgasm. It inspired me to get off the couch and say something about it. You like that clever linking on the title back there don’t ya?

It was really good. Very well produced and edited in my opinion… limited may it be. I just want to comment on the ending. I’ll try not to give to much away other than the pure heart of the message.

He said basically that he firmly believes that you get out of things what you put into them. If you go into something with nothing but positive thoughts, and a firm belief that you can do it and do it well, you can. Good input. Great output. Tag line for my plug page?

Conclusion… I highly recommend searching for this video on HBO or at Wal-Mart. I laughed, I didn’t cry… I think I want to buy it sometime.

Quick Note

May 19, 2007

That last post was a bit long winded, eh? Not many people ever feel the need to sit down and read paragraph after paragraph, I know. Something to work on.

Change is in the wind.

May 19, 2007

Okay, I can’t say that I’m an old hand at blogging by any means. In fact I just created this site two days ago, so I’m still very wet behind the ears. Yet so far I’m loving every minute of this.

Upon waking up this morning I saw an email Dad had sent me. A friend of his mentioned my recent post on Meandering Passage. You can find Kent’s site here, and with a shameless plug, you can see where I’m mentioned in his Evening Read: 5/18/07 post. Thank you Kent, and definitely a big thanks to Dad for helping get me into this.

All of this has officially confirmed something I’ve been thinking very seriously about the last few days as well. Journalism. Once I get everything settled financially with myself I’ll be looking into some journalism and writing classes at a community college down here. I’m truly loving seeing my name out there. It’s a very exciting feeling. I want to keep this going.

And yes, I know. A few days is a rather short time to spend on figuring out what I want to do in life. Something you should know about me… My dreams are numerous and far ranging. I also don’t seem to be able to do anything the easy way. Dad can vouch for that. So I guess making decisions quickly factors into it all somehow. This is something I want to be serious about though, so I’ll be thinking about journalism and writing right up until I land a job at Gizmodo or Kotaku. Then I’ll giggle like a school girl and proceed to play with all the new shiny toys before I write to tell the world how great or how craptastic they are.

As for the directions I’m hoping to take my site, you can find those on the about page, but I’m going to lay them out here in hopes people with more experience will offer advice.

First I want to figure out some more topics to write about. I don’t mind sharing thoughts and personal insights or anything along those means, but I want to do more. I want the posts on here to be useful, informative, and fun. I also want this page to reflect who and what I am. I want to cover computers, the internet, technology, digital media, music, art, film and yes, gadgets.

I’ve also considered getting some friends of mine to start writing for the page as well. Our little group is great just for it’s variety. Different personalities, different interests, different thoughts on anything and everything. I think that would make for some really good reading. Hopefully my friends will find all of this as fun and interesting as I do.

Some days it just doesn’t pay.

May 18, 2007

Amazon lied to me. I bought Rise of Nations: Gold last week and it just arrived today. I got it under the impression that my computer would be able to run it. I was wrong.

So now the only option I have is purchasing a graphics card off Ebay. Fortunately I saw a 256mb card for not too much. It will fit perfectly with only a mod to the faceplate needed. I’ll just have to save up and get that. Then… I’ll finally be able to play one of my all time favorite games.

I haven’t done much gaming lately either. Nothing has really caught my eye I guess. Really I don’t even feel the need to game that much anymore. At least I haven’t until lately. Now that I’m getting settled into a regular work schedule I find myself wishing I had something fun to play on the weekends and occasionally during the week.

I’d also like to comment on how I’ll be posting from here on out. I just downloaded Qumana and this is my first post using it. Easy install and a simple interface. Plus it was free.

Finishing up, just today I had my first ever publishing of a post outside of here. My father has a site, Meandering Passage, that I’ve really enjoyed reading. Today he posted a review I wrote on Unsanity’s Shapeshifter 2.4, and I hope to keep on writing for him.

But this has gone on long enough. Till next time.

Beginnings.

May 18, 2007

So this is how it begins, huh? Okay. I’m game. I’m not sure how all this is going to turn out to be honest. I’m still familiarizing myself with everything because I just started this page today. I’ve also got to figure out what I’ll write about. Or maybe just what the general theme of the page will be, and hope for ideas to come naturally after that. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens next.
